This is the mission of Cometa , a French company that is a point of reference in packaging decoration in the cosmetics sector, which has chosen to rely once again on Eurotherm to strengthen its production and innovation capacity.
In the cosmetics sector, packaging is much more than a container: it is the first promise of the brand, the sensorial anticipation of what the product represents. Colors, textures, shine and shapes speak even before the content, decisively influencing the purchasing experience and it is for this reason that the finish must be perfect .
We are talking about excellence, and it is essential. And it is precisely for this degree of precision that Cometa asked us to design and build this new UV painting system.
The ultra-precise UV coating system
Cometa is a point of reference for brands looking for exclusive, innovative and recognisable packaging and the new high-productivity UV coating line has been designed for:
- support the company’s production growth and future goals;
- offer versatility on small, medium and large formats ;
- ensure repeatability, efficiency and absolute aesthetic quality ;
- integrate with the existing line, optimising times and handling.
The new plant is in fact placed alongside the existing line, integrating perfectly into the plant thanks to a compact layout with an inverted conveyor and loading/unloading stations in the same area.
The processing speed is 6 metres per minute , ensuring productivity and continuity in line.
Work every surface, at every stage
The part preparation cycle is designed to obtain a perfect surface, which is essential for the subsequent metallization treatment , where even the smallest defect would be amplified. For this reason, the initial pre-treatment phases include:
- Manual loading
- Double ionization
- Brushing
- Flame burning
This is followed by complete dust removal, before entering the first spray booth equipped with 7 guns and two separate paint circuits .
Next we have the drying by desolvation, the IR Tunnel, a second drying and the entrance into the second spray booth , still with 7 guns and double circuit
After the solvent has evaporated, the piece passes through the IR Tunnel before being baked in a UV oven, cooled and finally unloaded manually.
One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the need to integrate the new system with the existing workpiece carrier bar , avoiding unnecessary steps and designing a continuous workflow with minimal handling of the components , to the benefit of efficiency and final quality.
The heart of quality is also in the system of air filtration , essential to ensure a uniform painted surface.
