CASE STUDY
2024Liquid painting plant for truck tippers
Customer
CANTONI & C. S.P.A., BOFFALORA SOPRA TICINO (MI)
Objective
Create a “Cartesian-type” painting system with an automated piece handling system.
Challenges
Create a manual painting system with automatic logic to meet the need for variable production, with pieces of different sizes
Impact
Hybrid plant
The manual liquid coating plant is integrated with a semi-automatic part transfer system with advanced operation to ensure management flexibility, energy saving and workforce optimization.
In fact, the plant has been designed in order to make only the operations that require the most precision and attention to detail, namely the loading/unloading of parts from the overhead conveyor and the liquid painting phase in manual mode, the responsibility of the personnel. There are three pressurized liquid paint booths in the plant with a drying function and one pressurized paint booth capable of accommodating a full truck for final touch-ups.
Handling large loads
With the exception of part loading/unloading operations, all other internal handling is automated. Although it is a manual painting plant, the high-capacity overhead conveyor is automated: in fact, from the elevator stations for loading and unloading the bins, it is possible to transport the parts to the various painting booths or parking areas via PLC control panel.
The automated skip ascent/descent system inside the individual spray booths is equipped with a fall-prevention safety system that facilitates internal handling for large suspended loads: each slingbar is 10 meters long and has a maximum capacity of 10,000 kg. Thanks to these automatic handling systems, personnel intervention is limited to loading, unloading, and touch-up and painting operations.
