We focus on the last layer, the final detail, what we see. It is natural: apart from not being experts in the sector, it is impossible, at the sight of an object, to overcome the external qualities in order to understand the how and why of the finish that has been applied.
We see the color tone, of course, and some peculiar characteristics such as opacity or iridescence. We appreciate the characters of texture or roughness.
But one thing is underestimated: the final finish is the icing on the cake of a multi-layered process. It is therefore important to clarify a fundamental concept of production work: the quality of the finish depends on the initial pre-treatment.
The Eurotherm wash cell
This project focused on the creation of an automatic washing cell, equipped with a liquid recovery system, and installed without the need for any civil works.
Made for a contractor in the painting sector, this cell responds to the customer’s need for a system that would allow for an increase in productivity compared to the classic manual washing process and at the same time improve the quality of the pieces to be painted.
The solution created by Eurotherm is based on a five-phase washing cycle:
- hot phosphodegreasing 50°C,
- 1st rinse with mains water,
- 2nd rinse with mains water,
- rinsing with pure osmo water,
- passivation.
The two main advantages of this solution are:
– the economic savings deriving from the reuse of chemical products with a reverse cascade system,
– the complete elimination of liquid discharge into the septic tank.
Beyond the pre-treatment quality – as we have seen, which is crucial – this automatic washing cell also offers the advantages associated with the use of an off-floor liquid recovery skid, which saves the customer from having to build an expensive containment pit.
