Quality, sustainability and operational flexibility: these were the requests of Painting Srl, a company specialized in powder and liquid painting for third parties, for which we recently created this manual powder coating system .
Painting Srl and the customer’s request
Painting Srl of Ariccia has been a point of reference in the field of industrial powder and liquid painting for third parties in Lazio since 2012. Today the company’s main focus is the powder coating of metal and aluminum products intended mainly for the construction sector , as well as the liquid painting of components for the medical and military sectors.
The customer’s requirement was to have a system that was:
- Flexible , i.e. capable of operating on objects of any size,
- Fast , in order to process orders quickly
- Attentive to the sustainability of the production process.
“Our final goal is to guarantee flexibility, customization of services and timely deliveries,” Luca Flore, at the helm of the company, tells IPCM. These were the needs of Painting Srl and it is precisely from here that we started to create this powder coating system with TORAN 3 pre-treatment.
The new manual powder coating system
The manual powder coating system created is composed of :
- single-phase Ecojet pre-treatment tunnel for the pre-treatment of pieces carried out outside the floor (without any construction work), a much faster treatment as it is automatic and has no liquids to dispose of or other waste materials;
- Manual powder coating booth ;
- Drying/polymerization oven with air vein burner that works at temperatures between 120°C and 200°C placed in front of the painting booth and performs the dual function of drying the TORAN 3 and polymerizing the powders;
- Central overhead conveyor with manual transfer with a capacity of 1,500 kg, with racks with a maximum capacity of 1,000 kg and 6 meters of useful length .
- Lifting station for motorized lifting of pieces hung on a rack;
- Rack accumulation lung which allows the storage of pre-treated pieces before painting or for cooling following firing;
- Industry 4.0 connections with touch-screen PLC and remote assistance.
The creation of “recipes” occurs through the specification of the desired times and temperatures. The painting manager has the task of setting the operating parameters, which are protected by restricted access. This is a system, now our standard series , which allows operators to start the machine and select the desired production cycle, with the advantage that the recipes, temperatures and times are set automatically.
The final result
The new plant not only brought benefits in terms of performance and environmental sustainability, but also optimized the production processes, reducing management costs and improving the overall efficiency of the painting department.
“ We are extremely satisfied with the investment. Despite the small size of the painting plant, we have achieved exceptional levels of productivity , allowing us to paint up to 56 racks per day, each with an average paintable surface of 12 m2 , for a total of over 600 m2 of painted surface.
In addition, the introduction of the new oven with air vein burner has guaranteed us significant savings in economic terms , reducing LPG consumption by 50% compared to the previous static oven” concludes Luca Flore, owner of Painting Srl.
