CASE STUDY
2022Automatic liquid painting plant
Customer
Effedue srl, Godega di Sant’Urbano (TV)
Impact
Advanced performance
The plant was designed to fit in with the company’s production spaces: the logical and compact spatial arrangement of a multiphase plant reflects positively on its performance and responds to the need to automatically manage the entire production line, corresponding to a predetermined and unmodifiable (except in the setting and control of chemical and working parameters) three main stage process.
With the exception of manual loading and unloading from conveyors at the beginning and end of processing, every step is automated, including part handling.
Control of production parameters
The three predetermined processing steps begin with pretreatment operations: cleaning of the parts by carbon dioxide, flaming, and ionization to make the surface homogeneous and promote paint adhesion are carried out by robot. Next, base coat application is carried out, followed by a 24-minute flash off at 40°C. Once the first flash-off is completed, the top coat is applied with liquid paint by means of a gun mounted on a robotic arm, which is followed by a second flash-off at 40°C lasting 16 minutes, to conclude the work cycle with baking in an oven at 90°C for 56 minutes, and two cooling phases, forced and natural. All stages and production parameters can be monitored through the control panels in real time.
Safety systems and process sustainability
The automatic liquid coating plant is equipped with emergency lockout buttons, with processing resuming only after a manual start-up maneuver, to ensure maximum operator safety during each processing step. Also keeping an eye on the environmental impact of the machining processes, any potentially harmful emissions are captured and routed to the relevant purification systems.
